Beyond the Pulpit 7.27.25
Good Morning CUMC!
Are you ready to go swimming? I am! Grab your beach towel, sunglasses, and floaties and join us for worship this morning where we’ll be checking out some of the scriptural themes in Disney’s Finding Nemo, as part of our Summer at the Movies series. Thanks to all who showed up Wednesday evening for our Summer Cinema show, where we turned the Fellowship Hall into a movie theatre and watched Finding Nemo with our friends and family, and shared delicious popcorn!
Our upcoming focus films for the remainder of the summer include:
August 10 – Pocahontas (may be viewed on Wednesday, August 6, Last Cinema Night before school begins)August 17 – AladdinAugust 24 – Lilo & Stitch
Next week, August 3, we’ll take a break from our movie theme, and hear from our CUMC Youth Mission Team during worship on Sunday, August 3. Invite friends and neighbors. You won’t want to miss it!
And if you haven’t had enough wading in the water with Nemo, never fear, SCUBA VBS is almost here! I can hardly wait to join our kids and volunteers for this amazing week of faith and fun. Thanks in advance to ALL who will make this experience possible. Wait until you meet…Winnie the Seahorse!
Last week, I think the highlight, beyond the pulpit, was our Crozet Community Picnic. A huge thanks to Nina Church for coordinating this event. I think we had approximately 55 people in attendance, once again from ages 4 to 94! The potluck picnic was delicious! And the fellowship was even better. I enjoyed meeting new folks, and catching up with those I see often but don’t always get a chance to catch up. It was great to hear about summer excursions and preparations for the upcoming school year. This is the perfect example of what it means to be a neighbor. And I hope we get to do it again soon!
I hope you’re enjoying your summer, and I can’t wait to see you again soon!
Pastor Christy
