Volunteer Opportunities

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.”

1 Peter 4:10

Hunger can be found everywhere – often where you least expect it. Each day in Western Albemarle County, people struggle to provide healthy meals for their families. Neighbors on fixed incomes, individuals holding minimum wage positions, and people with health issues are frequently forced to make crucial decisions between healthcare, housing, transportation or food.

The poverty level alone doesn’t really describe the problem. The issue is complicated. It transcends a simple classification of who is above or below the poverty line. In fact, 10 million Americans have incomes that don’t qualify for Federal assistance like SNAP, WIC, or a free lunch at school. Each day, these neighbors worry about feeding themselves and their families.

At Grace Grocery, we’re working to ensure families don’t go hungry in Albemarle County. For 25 years, we have been a leader in feeding the hungry, distributing over 30,000 pounds of food a year. Each month we share the abundance God has showered on us with over 300 families in our community.
