Beyond the Pulpit 8.31.25

Crozetumc   -

Early this week I had a chance to sit down with Pastor Christy and reflect on the last three months. In short, it has been an amazing summer.

Crozet UMC’s Youth Group continues to flourish. This year, four adults and 14 students spent a week on our summer mission trip. Working with the Columbia NC community, the team provided access-related services to residents in need, building porches, painting and doing yard work at a variety of sites. It’s hard to believe that we started with four youth on our first mission trip coming out of COVID.

Our music ministry continues to thrive! As we move into September, we have new members joining the choir. The Praise Team has expanded with a new youth vocalist as well as additional instrumentalists. This coupled with new contemporary music will bring exciting enhancement to worship.

Vacation Bible School was amazing! For five days, over 45 volunteers provided learning, games, and excitement for nearly 100 students. It was a great week, but even more exciting was that this year we saw the largest youth volunteer presence in years with high schoolers leading groups and stations. It was an incredible volunteer effort made possible by adults and youth volunteers as well as our amazing staff.

We’re enhancing community engagement! Over the last month we’ve been working to build our connections with the wider Crozet community. These relationships create important bridges between our congregation and our neighbors, allowing CUMC to be present and active in the life of our community, while also raising awareness that we are here to serve.

The Holy Spirit is here at work and I am excited about the future. There is more work to do but nonetheless, it is an exciting time at Crozet UMC!

Grace and Peace

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
