Beyond the Pulpit 4.19.26
Good Morning Crozet UMC!
This past week, beyond the pulpit, I’m excited to share about my work on the Board with Love INC (In the Name of Christ). As you may know, CUMC Member David Oberg is now the Executive Director. Over the last year we’ve been working very hard to raise funds to purchase a van. Thank you, if you contributed! We accomplished the goal and purchased a van this week! This vehicle will allow Love INC to pick up furniture donations that will then be available to those in need who connect with Love INC. It will be called the Klein Care Wagon, in honor of Raymond Klein, Love INC’s longtime Executive Director. David and Jeff Cale, Love INC Connections Coordinator, went to pick up the van this past Tuesday. Once we get the logo added, there will be a dedication of the Klein Care Wagon and its ministry. Then…whenever you move or have furniture to donate, just call Love INC (434-977-7777) to schedule pick up!
As I mentioned in worship last week, the parsonage is one of the investments of CUMC. This week at the parsonage, the gas fireplace ignition system was repaired and cleaned. It is now working again (not that we’ve needed a fire this last week!). Additionally, a new pump was installed in the basement that is needed to route water and waste up to the main level where it exits the house. And the regular preventative maintenance for the HVAC system was also completed, in conjunction with that of the church. So, there’s been lots of activity at the parsonage lately, and I’m proud to say the house is in great condition!
This week, I also connected with families of our (19!) Confirmation students. We are moving into our last month together as a Confirmation Class, and I will soon be meeting individually with students and families to discuss their decisions about committing to a life of faith through Crozet UMC. Please join me in praying for these students and families, and plan to join us on May 17 to celebrate their decisions!
Yesterday was the highlight of the week! We joined together as a family of faith and packaged 20,000 meals with Rise Against Hunger! What a tremendous accomplishment, from raising over $8000 during Lent…in the first four weeks…to creating the assembly line to package the food yesterday, this is always such a wonderful, tangible, hands-on opportunity to put our faith into action TOGETHER. I expect you won’t want to miss the highlights in worship today! Who doesn’t want to see all the glamour shots of us wearing red hair nets with all of our church friends!?!?!
Easter Blessings,
Pastor Christy
