Beyond the Pulpit 7.12.26
One of the great joys of ministry is discovering how God is at work, not only within the walls of Crozet UMC, but throughout our community. This week I had the privilege of participating in two meaningful leadership gatherings that remind me just how connected our church is to God’s work beyond Sunday mornings.
Earlier this week I met with Rev. Devon Maust Earle, Campus Minister at the UVA Wesley Foundation. Many of you will remember Devon from her time as a student intern here at Crozet UMC. Since then, she has become an ordained United Methodist pastor and has even led worship here when I’ve been away. I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Wesley Foundation’s Board of Directors for the past year and will now step into the role of Board Chair. While this is a volunteer position, it reflects our congregation’s continued commitment to supporting college students as they grow in faith. Speaking of the UVA Wesley Foundation, Crozet UMC will once again provide and serve dinner for UVA Wesley students this fall on Tuesday, September 29. If you’d like to help, please contact Kathy Micucci, or simply call the church office.
Yesterday I joined David Oberg and the Board of Directors of Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) for our annual Board Retreat. It was an exciting day of dreaming, planning, and preparing for the future of this growing ministry. We celebrated plans for a larger ministry space, the launch of a new thrift store, and the blessing of the new Care Wagon, which I’m especially excited to see begin its ministry this week. The Care Wagon is primarily intended for moving furniture from donors to people in need, but truly its ministry is limitless! Thank you to Love INC for allowing our youth mission team to take the Care Wagon on its inaugural journey as the supply van for this week’s youth mission trip!
I hope you’ll join us today as we continue our “Anything But Ordinary” summer series, exploring the wonderfully messy family of Abraham and discovering how God works through imperfect people. Come for Grow Groups at 10:00 a.m., where we’ll reflect on Christian mission before we gather outside to Wave, Pray, and Send The Mission Team on Their Way!
I look forward to seeing you!
Pastor Christy
