Beyond the Pulpit 8.2.26
Although I wasn’t able to participate fully in Vacation Bible School this year (or continue my annual tradition of playing a costumed Bible Buddy character), I was grateful to be in the office throughout the week, keeping up with administrative responsibilities and staying connected with many of those on our Care & Prayer List through phone calls and emails. I was also delighted to join Scott Townsend (who along with Jack Isley took the lead for Bible Adventures this year) for the final day, giving me the opportunity to engage face-to-face with each of the children before the week came to a close (see photo below).
As we gather today, we’ll celebrate an incredible week of VBS, where 97 children discovered that no matter what life brings, they can trust Jesus. I continue to be amazed by the generosity of our youth and adults who poured their time, energy, creativity, and love into this ministry. Whether you volunteered, donated supplies, prepared snacks, prayed faithfully, or encouraged those who served, you played a part in making this one of the most impactful weeks of the year at Crozet UMC. Thank you for helping create an environment where children encountered the love of Christ in joyful, memorable, and life-changing ways.
I hope you’ll join us this morning as we conclude our Anything But Ordinary worship series, celebrating the remarkable, and wonderfully messy, family of Abraham and the extraordinary faithfulness of God that shines through every chapter of their story. I can’t wait to see you!
