Beyond the Pulpit 9.6.26

Crozetumc   -

It has been another full week at Crozet UMC, and as I reflect on it, I am grateful for the many different ways God is at work through this congregation and our wider community.

First, we are connected again! After a long few weeks of Wi-Fi challenges, we were thrilled to have our connectivity issues resolved through Lumos this week. The work included repairing and updating connectivity throughout the facility, which means our Worship AV Team, Crozet Avenue Christian Preschool, and all of our ministries are once again up and running at 100%. I am especially grateful to everyone who patiently navigated the challenges along the way!

Doug Gaskell, our Church Council Chair, and I also had the opportunity to attend laity and clergy onboarding events for our new Three Notch’d District Superintendent, Rev. Grace Han, who officially began her leadership on July 1. Led by Rev. Kathleen Overby-Webster (the same person who helped orient our leaders when I arrived at CUMC), the gatherings gave us a wonderful opportunity to ask questions, share our hopes and dreams, and get to know Rev. Han. Doug and I were both impressed by her thoughtful leadership and look forward to working with her in the years ahead.

Finally, I spent some time this week with IMPACT Charlottesville, serving on their Personnel Committee during the annual review of their Lead Organizer. I continue to be encouraged by the good ministry happening through IMPACT and the very real ways it is making an impact in our community. And…you can be part of it! Please join us for one of the upcoming IMPACT House Meetings. EVERYONE is invited, even if you’ve never connected with IMPACT before. Come check it out, meet some folks, listen to what is happening in our community, and discover where you might fit in.

What a week: getting connected, welcoming new leadership, and joining with others to make a difference. Thank you, as always, for being part of this wonderful community of faith. With gratitude,
Pastor Christy
