January 20th Worship: Human Sexuality: Scriptures under Scrutiny, Part 2
This Sunday we continue our worship series that is exploring the Scriptures often cited in debates around human sexual expression. As the United Methodist Church is preparing to call the question on its stance on inclusivity regarding human sexuality at the Called General Conference in February, we will take a look at these difficult, and at times disturbing biblical passages, and seek God’s wisdom and guidance for our own discernment. We invite you to journey in the texts together in community, as it will forever change our denomination next month. The sermons will present the passages, provide context and insight into historical interpretation without seeking to persuade for a specific interpretation. Rather worship will be designed to inform and educate, so that each person will be empowered to make their own decision. Anyone from child to youth to adult who does not wish to engage in this series are welcome to be present with the children in our Children’s Worship ministry during the sermon time.
