Beyond the Pulpit 10.5.25
Happy Sunday Crozet Family!
I look forward to being together with you this morning for worship. With so much going on in the world today, it’s helpful to gather together for fellowship, study, and worship as a family of faith. This morning we will begin a new worship series based on an old creed. This year, 2025, is the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed (880 in the United Methodist Hymnal). This creed is one of the most important ecumenical creeds of our Christian faith. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking the creed, piece by piece, to see how it applies to our life today! I hope you’ll join us. It’s also World Communion Sunday, when we not only share in this holy sacrament, but also connect with others around the world who celebrate this holy meal today as well. Together we are truly One in Christ.
Also….I’d love to bless your pets today! Join us in front of The Lodge at Old Trail at 2pm for a brief outdoor service for The Blessing of the Animals!
This past week, beyond the pulpit, I was on my biannual worship planning retreat with a few colleagues. We stayed on the Rappahannock River and cooked, studied, fellowshipped, and planned together. This has been a ritual that has been a fruitful and fulfilling time in my ministry over the years. As we departed at the end of the week, I left with themes, scriptures, and loose plans through May of 2026…with some fun ideas for next summer too! Below is a photo from the retreat!
