Beyond the Pulpit 3.29.26
Good Morning Crozet Family,
Welcome to Holy Week! Today we begin worship by joining the crowd, shouting “Hosannah” reenacting Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem on a donkey, marking the beginning of his last week of life. From this high moment, we will make our way through the week. During worship on Thursday at 6pm, we will remember his last 2 nights of life, and his crucifixion. And next Sunday morning, we will celebrate the miracle of Easter; Jesus conquered death and lives eternally, giving new life to us also. A lot can happen in a week. And, I am grateful to travel this journey with you.
A lot can happen in a week, indeed. David and I lived that firsthand over the last 10 days. As many of you know, David has been at UVA Hospital since March 19. He experienced an unexpected very scary and very severe reaction to some of his medications. He was confused and disoriented for several days. Thankfully, he turned the corner a few days ago, and has continued to improve. Yesterday, he came home!! He’s now on the right track and will continue to heal at home, taking things slowly, one day at a time.
We want to thank each person who has done ANYTHING to support us. We appreciate every text, call, email, visit, hug, meal, and most especially your prayers. As I have said to our Confirmation students and also at our Crozet 101 class last Sunday, I don’t know how people make it through the hard parts of life without a church family to lean on. Honestly David and I are both more comfortable being the ones people lean on. But this whole experience is a reminder to us, that sometimes the roles are reversed, and we have the humbling opportunity to lean on others. Thank you for allowing us to lean on you. Thank you for being the Body of Christ for us. We are forever grateful.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
Thank you.
Pastor Christy
