Good morning, Crozet UMC!

I hope you’ve been enjoying your Independence Day weekend and finding ways to stay cool during this significant heat wave. Both of our sons and my parents are in town this weekend, so it’s been a special few days for our family. Like many of you, we were disappointed that the Crozet parade had to be canceled, but we certainly understand the decision given the extreme weather. We missed the opportunity to gather with our neighbors and celebrate our wonderful community together, though I was glad the fireworks were still able to light up the sky last night!

I also want to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped Crozet UMC prepare to serve our community. Our Hospitality Team had nearly 300 bottles of water chilled and ready to hand out along the parade route, and others quickly adjusted to the revised parade plans by preparing the Fellowship Hall as a cooling station at the end of the route. While neither ministry was ultimately needed, I’m grateful that we were ready to be a good neighbor. (And don’t worry—the water won’t go to waste! We have plenty of upcoming opportunities to share it with others.)

I look forward to seeing you this morning for Grow Groups and Worship as we continue our Anything But Ordinary summer series on Abraham’s family. Today we’ll follow Jacob on his journey as he discovers that God meets us in the most unexpected places. I hope you’ll join us as we explore Jacob’s Dream and the reminder that God’s presence is often much closer than we realize.

See you soon!
