UNITED METHODIST MEN (UMM)

The Crozet United Methodist Men (UMM) are dedicated to providing support to the church and community in the name of Christ. We do this through fellowship, spiritual growth, and service to our members, our church, and community in the name of Christ. Whether it’s service projects in the community, flipping pancakes for Shrove Tuesday, or setting up tables and chairs for special events, smiling faces and willing hands are always there! For questions or more information, contact Steve.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW)

Crozet United Methodist Women (UMW) work to support both local and international missions. Through our efforts we provide “scholarship” money to send children and youth to church camp, support Youth mission trips, assist Vacation Bible Camp, and support programs that help women, children, and youth around the world. Our efforts include making blankets for children in the Philippines, providing personal hygiene kits for those in need, and the ongoing ministry at Mountainside Senior Living Facility. To empower women and develop fellowship, two UMW “circles,” the JoyBelles, and the Rebecca’s, meet throughout the year. For more information, contact Bonnie.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER

Crozet United Methodist Church partners with Rise Against Hunger to fund, assemble, package, and ship thousands of meals for those in need. Working at multiple assembly stations, we combine rice, soy, and dehydrated vegetables with 23 vitamins and minerals into small meal pouches then package and palletize the meals for shipment. Through our partnership with Rise Against Hunger we can make an impact far beyond Crozet Virginia. It is important. In countries where much of the population is facing hunger, even the simplest meal can make a difference.

SHOWING GOD’s LOVE WITH A PRAYER SHAWL

Crozet UMC’s Prayer Shawl ministry fills a critical need to help people who are experiencing difficult health issues or those who may be grieving. It also allows you to create something physical that can communicate God’s great love for us and our care for each other.

No matter what your skill level, it is possible to participate. You may knit, sew, or crochet, selecting your own pattern and materials, or you can use one of the “starter kits.”  Want to find out more? Contact Robyn or Claire.

PRAYER

Prayer is important for each of us. It helps us focus on Christ. It helps us focus on our lives. It helps us focus on others. Christ himself was a model of prayer. HE prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. HE prayed on the cross. HE prayed before Lazarus’ resurrection. Like Christ, we are called to pray as well, but we don’t have to do it alone.

You can request prayer any day, at any time through our web site. Just go to to our prayer request form. Prayer requests can remain confidential or shared with the congregation, however you wish. Confidential requests are communicated only within the prayer team. Shared prayers are gathered each week and published in a weekly email for congregational prayer.

CHANGING LIVES IN PRISON

KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY

We frequently talk about changing lives and making an impact, but how does that happen? We talk about sharing the love of Jesus Christ, but how do you do that? In fact, Kairos Prison Ministry offers each of us an opportunity to do these things.

What Is Kairos?

It is an interdenominational Christian ministry reaching out to incarcerated individuals and their families to bring meaning and hope in the place of loneliness, isolation and despair.  Kairos is a three-and-a-half-day ministry weekend to incarcerated adults. Sometimes referred to as a short course in Christianity, Kairos teams share the love, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, as well as meals and fellowship with the incarcerated on a one-to-one basis. Crozet UMC partners with Kairos at two local prisons: Fluvanna Correctional Center (women) and Augusta Correctional Center (men). How can you participate?

This isn’t a life time commitment for you. Team members meet in preparation four Saturdays at a local church. This is followed by a four-day program in the prison, coupled with monthly worship gatherings at the prison.

Is it worth your time? Without a doubt. You bet. As melodramatic as it sounds, it’s like a front row seat at a miracle – watching GOD transform lives and you can be a part of this amazing ministry! For more details, contact Doug or Maryalice.
