A Month of Martyrdom: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Crozetumc   -

Our final martyr of our worship series, is the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  All too often he is recognized by secular authorities as simply the Doctor, but long before that he was ordained clergy.  King’s faith was the force behind his willingness to tackle institutionalized racism, and that enabled him to persevere through punishment, imprisonment, and attempts to assassinate his character.  He remains a leader of the Civil Rights movement, but he would not have us forget the Lord he served in doing so.  The Rev. Dr. King, Jr. put his faith to work and gave it form in his struggle against oppression.  While he was killed for that holy work, he continues to inspire modern Christians to take up the mantle and march onward for Social Holiness.  Come and see!
