Cheap Grace
As Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the pastor and theologian, wrote, the response to grace is discipleship. When we take God’s grace for granted, or take it and live as if nothing has changed, then we profane God’s love and forgiveness. Once we believe in Jesus Christ, we can claim to be Christians, but God then expects us to continue on to becoming disciples, those who follow in Jesus’ footsteps, and love as he first loved us. We have work to do, if we value the grace God freely bestows to us. This week is all about the next step. No matter how long you have been on this path, walking by faith, until Christ’ return, there will be a next step. Come and be with those who are excited to take the next step with you!
