Christians Don’t Get Angry
Crozetumc   -

This Sunday we examine a rant Jesus gives about the scribes and Pharisees, the respected religious authorities of his day.  Jesus looks closely at what is really motivating them, and exposes their hypocrisy in this teaching.  His tone is one of anger, righteous anger, at those who lead others to follow their example into a hollow faith, rather than to pursue a righteous relationship with God and neighbor.  Too often Christians feel guilty and ashamed at their own anger, but our text reveals that there is a time to be angry, and a time to vocalize that.  Then Jesus models for us that anger must be channeled and given over to God, rather than embodied in words and acts of wrath.  Come see what Jesus’ anger has to say about those who would deny Christians the fullness of human emotion.
