Digging Deeper: Anointing
On the fifth Sunday of the month, our church uses the biblical practice of anointing to bring God’s blessing upon all those who desire to receive it. Anointing is done through oil, in liquid or balm form, and applied to the object that will be consecrated, made holy. While objects used in worship are consecrated, it is appropriate to consecrate people who will serve the Lord. Not just pastors, but all the people of God are called to service in the name of Jesus Christ. We will rediscover the gift of God in anointing this Sunday and how it is united with prayer to empower us, encourage us, and ultimately, to reveal God’s love for us.
