Digging Deeper: Spiritual Truth
You may have heard people say every word in the Bible is true. What does that really mean? In the United Methodist Church, we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and that it reveals divine truth, but it requires work, such as reading it in community, prayerfully and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This week we discover the truth of spiritual truth, and how that is not the same as objective truth. Spiritual truth is obtained, not by the state of the mind, but by the openness of the heart, which is why even children are empowered to speak the truth of God. Nothing can keep you from being wise in spiritual truth if you desire to obtain it. So this week we will be empowering everyone to discover the riches of the Bible and not limits of literalism.
