Digging Deeper: Tithe
The word “tithe” usually causes people to look down and away. It sounds more like financial slavery than a gift of liberation. Yet the biblical concept of the tithe is about setting us free from the endless cycle of earning. God meant for the tithe to be a gateway of freedom to open up the possibility to bless others, honor the Lord, and refocus our lives on God. This Sunday we dig deeper into the model of giving God mandated back before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, before the coming of Jesus Christ, and before the birth of the Christian Church.
