Hurtful Things Christians Say: If You Just Had More Faith
Perhaps out of a sense of tough love or our own frustration with a difficult situation, many a Christian has uttered, “If you just had more faith …” to another person. Even though Jesus conveys such a sentiment in our Scripture text this Sunday, we forget that it is Jesus, God the Son in human form, that speaks this truth with the divine power of omniscience. Since we are neither God nor omniscient, we must be very careful not to judge someone’s faith or lack thereof, nor can we place ourselves in any position that does not convey our desire to be with those who suffer, as our Lord Jesus himself did.
