In the Name of God: I AM
Johnhilker   -

We conclude our September Worship series on the Names of God with a tricky name that continues to confound scholars, yet shapes our understanding of God.  Moses, during his repeated attempts to avoid going back to Egypt and taking part in the Exodus, complains that he doesn’t even know God’s name and the people will want to know.   God responds with some irregular Hebrew most often translated in Christianity as “I AM WHO I AM.”  However, many Hebrew scholars argue a better, more accurate translation would be “I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE.”  What difference does it make, and which is most consistent with the Biblical presentation of our God?  Come and see for yourself! Associated Scripture: Exodus 3:13-15
