Light in the Darkness: King Nebuchadnezzar’s Episode of Psychosis
Crozetumc   -

As we continue to explore how mental illness is depicted in the Bible, we discover how an episode of mental illness grants us an opportunity to see that human beings are more than their struggles and disabilities. King Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful ruler in Babylon, the greatest world power in its day, and he had the longest reign as monarch. All of that might have ended when he suffered an episode of psychosis, and his reality became a living nightmare. An estimated 100,000 youth and young adults experience psychosis for the first time each year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Health. That means the suffering of a mental break is more common than we may be aware.  King Nebuchadnezzar finds restoration; can we help others find the same? Come see for yourself the surprising insights this week’s Scripture has to share with us, and may we become better at helping others through the darkness. Associated Scripture: Daniel 4:28-36
