Maundy Thursday
As recorded in John’s gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them. This year, we gather together on Thursday evening for a worship encounter of both Holy Communion and hand washing. While Jesus practiced foot washing with the disciples, hand washing allows everyone to discover the cleansing power of water and feel our hands being dried with love and care. On this Thursday, Christians of every age gather at the Lord’s Table and allow God’s healing grace to wash over us. Associated Scripture: John 13: 1-13 & Matthew 26:17-30
