Prevenient Grace
Prevenient grace is the first movement of God’s grace, where God comes to us even before we know how much we need grace. God initiates not only our relationship with our Lord, but also our worship. Today we discover how God set up a mode of worship, and paved the way not only for Christ’s offering for us, but for the bread and wine of Holy Communion all the way back in the Book of Exodus. God is at work for us long before we can recognize it. This understanding of prevenient grace is unique to the United Methodist Church.
