“You Have Heard That It Was Said” Go Also the Second Mile
This Sunday we once more visit the words Jesus entrusted to those who would follow him, love him, and serve the world in his name. What does it convey when we do not abandon others after our obligations to them end? What if we were to choose to continue to be with and for them? Jesus challenges us to consider how our presence with and for others might be the ultimate catalyst for change. It is not an instance or short time pattern, but a way of being in the world and for others, just as Jesus modeled in his earthly ministry.
