Gary

I grew up in Glastonbury, CT, came to Northern VA in 1989 and moved to the Shenandoah Valley in the fall of 2010. I have been interested in music as long as I can remember, began piano lessons at age five, and was immersed in choral, barbershop, and community musical groups throughout my middle and high school years. I was also blessed with the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Europe with Up With People as a pianist and musical director for a number of years following high school. I returned to college in 2011 and earned a BA in music and music education from Mary Baldwin University. Before coming to Crozet UMC, I was the choir director at St. James UMC in Churchville, VA. I currently reside in Waynesboro with my wife, Debby.

What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make? I am excited to lead contemporary music at Crozet UMC and share my joy for music as we raise our voices together in praise to God.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about music – all types of music! I love that music can evoke a feeling, convey a message, and tell a story. It touches a special place in our hearts.

What do you like most about Crozet UMC? The people at Crozet UMC have been so warm and welcoming. My wife and I have immediately felt a sense of belonging.
